- Include merchandising and readiness checks before opening.
Qatar Fit Out matches retail projects with up to three checked local contractors. We prepare a one-page comparison with relevant experience, indicative cost information and availability. You choose who visits for a free site survey. Your chosen contractor then develops the scope and quotes directly to you.
Plan the customer and stock journey
Explain the product categories, display requirements and expected service pattern. Identify where customers need assistance and where staff need secure storage. Consider replenishment routes so stock movement does not conflict with customer circulation. Include fitting rooms, collection points or service counters only where the operation needs them.
Share brand guidelines and any standard fixture details. If your brand supplies drawings from another market, ask the appointed team to review them against the actual unit and local requirements. Dimensions, available services and landlord rules may require changes before the design can be priced.
Understand the landlord requirements
A mall or managed development may have its own design review, access, delivery and work rules. Obtain the current fit-out manual and the named contact responsible for tenant works. Ask what information is required before the contractor can mobilise and which inspections or sign-offs apply.
The contractor's offer should identify responsibility for submissions, deposits or fees where applicable, protection of common areas and waste removal. Clarify working hours and delivery routes. Restricted access can affect the sequence and cost, so these conditions should be known before comparing programmes.
Coordinate fixtures with technical work
Display joinery and lighting should be designed together. Shelf positions, product dimensions and changing displays affect where light and power are needed. Point-of-sale equipment, security systems and data connections should be included in the coordination. Confirm who supplies and connects each system.
Ask for samples and construction details for custom fixtures. Review how they are fixed, maintained and adjusted. A visually similar substitute may differ in durability or capacity. Agree the approval process before manufacture and keep the final schedule aligned with the items included in the quote.
Compare a complete retail scope
Retail fit-out costs depend on the unit condition, display system, joinery specification, lighting and services changes. Shopfront work can be a separate package with its own requirements. A reused unit may need removal and repair before new finishes are installed. Each assumption needs to be visible.
Separate the contractor's works from merchandise, operating equipment and client-supplied fixtures. Ask whether signage, data installation, final cleaning and testing are included. Office benchmarks do not price a retail unit. Use a measured scope and fixture schedule when requesting comparable offers from your approved contractors.
Set an opening sequence you can follow
Work backwards from the planned opening and show the steps that must happen first. Design review, material approval and fixture manufacture may run on different schedules. The programme should explain their dependencies and identify the client decisions needed to keep work moving.
Include time for product delivery, merchandising, staff preparation and checks of the operating systems. The contractor may finish physical work before the store is ready to trade. If your opening is fixed by a lease milestone or campaign, make that visible in the initial brief and ask how the contractor will manage the critical dependencies.
Check the shop before taking over
Walk the completed space against the approved scope and record outstanding work. Test doors, lighting controls and the systems included in the contract. Confirm that maintenance access remains usable after displays are installed. Collect the relevant product information, warranties and final drawings.
Agree how snagging will be completed without disrupting store preparation. Keep a clear contact for defects after handover. Our matching service does not replace that contract management, but the shortlist helps you compare relevant experience before appointing anyone. If you are unsure which scope applies, submit what you know and we will ask for the missing details.
